IPL 2025: Tanush Kotian Joins PBKS as Net Bowler, KKR Seeks Permission for Black Armbands

Tanush Kotian, the all-rounder from Mumbai who wasn't picked in the IPL auction earlier this year, has now joined the Punjab Kings as a net bowler midway through the current season.

The 26-year-old was spotted bowling to PBKS batters in the nets and chatting at length with spin-bowling coach Sunil Joshi during the team’s practice session, held a day before their match against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Punjab Kings have Yuzvendra Chahal as their main spinner, but they also have strong backup in Harpreet Brar and Praveen Dubey. Both are leg-spinners with a similar bowling style and can be handy options when needed. To make their practice sessions more effective, especially with teams like Kolkata Knight Riders having tricky spinners like Sunil Narine and the in-form Varun Chakravarthy, bringing in Kotian and his traditional off-spin adds a fresh and useful angle to their training.

Kotian, who played an important part in Mumbai’s Syed Mushtaq Ali win this season, has been a steady and reliable player in domestic cricket for some time now.

He joined the team at their hotel on Thursday and wasted no time getting into the mix, providing PBKS batters with some challenging overs in the nets.

KKR Requests BCCI to Wear Black Armbands Against PBKS

Kolkata Knight Riders have asked BCCI for permission to wear black armbands in their match against Punjab Kings. This is to pay tribute to the victims of the Anantnag (Aharbal) terror attack.
