IPL 2025, SRH vs LSG: Nitish Kumar Reddy throws his helmet in frustration after dismissal

IPL 2025, SRH vs LSG: Nitish Kumar Reddy throws his helmet in frustration after dismissalSunrisers Hyderabad's all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy couldn't hide his frustration after getting out in the ongoing IPL 2025 match against Lucknow Super Giants at Thursday Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. Reddy, trying to steady the innings, lost his wicket to Ravi Bishnoi. As he walked back to the pavilion, he showed his disappointment by throwing his helmet. The right-handed batter came in to bat under pressure after SRH lost a few early wickets. With most of the experienced batters already out, the 21-year-old had the task of holding the innings together. But his time at the crease ended in the 15th over when he misread a googly from Bishnoi and got out.

On the first ball of the over, the leg spinner bowled a tossed-up delivery right on the middle stump. Nitish tried to hit it straight down the ground but misjudged the googly completely. The ball sneaked through and crashed into his middle stump. Disappointed with himself, Nitish removed his helmet and tossed it aside as he walked back to the pavilion. He scored 32 runs from 28 balls, hitting two boundaries.

The match started with LSG captain Rishabh Pant winning the toss and choosing to bowl first. In the third over, Shardul Thakur gave LSG a strong start by removing both Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan on back-to-back deliveries. Nitish then steadied the innings with Travis Head, adding 61 runs for the third wicket before Head was dismissed for a well-made 47. Nitish also built a 34-run partnership with Heinrich Klaasen, but Klaasen was run out after scoring 26. Towards the end, Aniket Verma played a quick knock of 26 off 13 balls, while captain Pat Cummins smashed 18 off just 4 balls, helping SRH reach a total of 190/9. Despite playing on a good batting track in Hyderabad, SRH couldn’t post a bigger total. Shardul Thakur was the standout bowler for LSG, taking four wickets, while the other bowlers contributed with a wicket each.

"I feel all these things happen in cricket. It was a bad day for me in the auction (I didn't get picked by any franchise). LSG was the one who approached me first due to the injuries to their bowlers, so it was always on the cards. I had to accept it with Zaheer Khan around. You have to go through such things (ups and downs) in cricket. Winning in the game is important for me. I don't look at the wickets or runs column. I want to create an impact and a match-winning performance. The batters are coming hard at the bowlers, why not the bowlers go hard at them, That was our plan against SRH. They have been scoring heavily on flat pitches. It fell in our pockets initially," Thakur told the broadcasters after his spell.
