IPL 2025 Points Table: Updated Team Ranking, Standings, and Net Run Rate After SRH vs KKR
After a dominant 80-run triumph over Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens on Thursday, the Kolkata Knight Riders jumped to fifth position in the rankings and moved out of the bottom spot in the IPL 2025 points table. Meanwhile, Sunrisers, who slipped to last place suffered their third consecutive defeat, whereas the defending champion secured its second win of the season. The leading two teams in the standings remain the unbeaten Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans round out the top four.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi crafted a fluent half-century to propel the Kolkata Knight Riders to 200/6 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL on Thursday, while Venkatesh Iyer silenced his critics with a blistering 25-ball fifty. After SRH opted to bowl, Quinton de Kock (1) and Sunil Narine (7) departed cheaply, highlighting the ongoing struggles of KKR's revamped opening pair.
However, the foundation for a formidable total was laid by an 81-run stand between skipper Ajinkya Rahane (38 off 27 balls) and Raghuvanshi (50 off 32 balls; 5x4, 2x6). SRH seized the momentum in the middle overs when 26-year-old Sri Lankan Kamindu Mendis making his debut, showcased a rare feat in IPL history by bowling with both hands in the same over. The ambidextrous spinner initially delivered a left-arm spin to dismiss Raghuvanshi before switching to off-spin against the left-handed Rinku Singh. His crucial breakthrough halted KKR’s momentum at a key juncture.
Vaibhav Arora and Varun Chakravarthy Dismantle SRH’s Batting Lineup
Iyer (60 off 29 balls; 7x4, 3x6) and Rinku (32* off 17 balls; 4x4, 1x6) reignited the innings just as the momentum dipped and boundaries dried up for two overs. The drought ended when Iyer capitalized on a wayward Simarjeet beamer, while Rinku followed up with three consecutive boundaries off Harshal Patel. Iyer then smacked back-to-back fours against Simarjeet before Rinku wrapped up the over with a towering six over long-on, conceding 17 runs. In the 19th over, Iyer went on an all-out attack against Cummins, smashing the SRH skipper for 4, 6, 4, 4 in succession, propelling KKR to their first 200-plus total of the season. The hosts racked up a scored 78 runs in the final five overs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad were completely dominated by KKR’s bowling attack. Travis Head began their innings with a boundary, but trouble followed immediately as Vaibhav Arora dismissed him on the very next ball. By the third over, SRH had stumbled to 9/3 with Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan also departing after scoring just 2 runs each.
Wickets kept falling at regular intervals, and SRH eventually crumbled for 120 while chasing a challenging 201-run target. Vaibhav Arora and Varun Chakravarthy led the charge with three wickets each, while Andre Russell contributed with two wickets. Harshit Rana and Sunil Narine picked up one wicket apiece.
