IPL 2025: Most Valuable Players (MVP) from 2008 to 2025
The Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is given to the player who earns the most points in a season, based on their overall performance. This award was originally called the "Man of the Tournament." Still, it was later renamed MVP when a points system was introduced to measure a player's overall contribution to the team.
Sunil Narine holds the record for the most points in a single season, scoring 450 points during the 2024 IPL season.
Shane Watson was the first player to win the Man of the Tournament award, doing so in the very first IPL season in 2008. He played a key role in helping the Rajasthan Royals win the title that year. Watson won the award again in 2013, also while playing for the Royals. That year was also the first time the points system was used. He became the first player to win the MVP award twice and is one of only three players to achieve that.
