IPL 2025: Huge Blow for Mumbai Indians? Deepak Chahar and Tilak Varma Spotted with Heavy Knee Braces Ahead of IPL Eliminator

Five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians (MI) are gearing up to take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Eliminator match of IPL 2025 at Mullanpur on Friday, May 30. However, MI seems to be facing some injury worries just before this all-important game.

IPL 2025: MI’s Chahar and Varma Injury Concerns Ahead of Key Match

A recent video from an airport has gone viral, showing MI players Deepak Chahar and Tilak Varma wearing knee braces. Both looked uncomfortable while walking, and there was heavy taping around their thighs. This has led to concerns about their fitness ahead of the important match.

During the Mumbai Indians' recent match against Punjab Kings, Deepak Chahar picked up a hamstring injury. He started well with a maiden over, but then gave away 28 runs in his next two overs. In the same game, Tilak Varma also hurt his knee while fielding.

This season, Tilak has done fairly well with the bat, scoring 274 runs in 11 innings, including two fifties. On the other hand, Chahar has taken 11 wickets in 14 games, though he's been a bit expensive, going at an economy rate of 9.17.

IPL 2025: Mumbai Indians Make Strong Comeback

Led by Hardik Pandya, the Mumbai Indians had a slow start to their campaign with five losses in their first six games. They won seven of their last eight games. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians will not get the services of Ryan Rickelton and Will Jacks in the IPL 2025 playoffs as the duo departed for their respective national duties. England's Jonny Bairstow is poised for a Mumbai Indians debut in the IPL. The five-time champions have also roped in Sri Lankan Charith Asalanka for the playoffs.
