IPL 2025: Andy Flower Confirms Virat Kohli Is Fine After Finger Injury Scare

IPL 2025: Andy Flower Confirms Virat Kohli Is Fine After Finger Injury ScareRCB head coach Andy Flower has shared an update on Virat Kohli’s finger injury, which he picked up during the match against Gujarat Titans on April 2 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Kohli got hurt while attempting to stop a boundary in the 12th over of GT’s innings.

While fielding at deep mid-wicket, he tried to stop a powerful shot from Sai Sudharsan but missed, and the ball raced to the boundary. As this happened, Kohli looked uncomfortable and was quickly checked by the team’s physio. However, after some treatment, he continued to field. After the match, Andy Flower provided an update, assuring that Kohli is fine. “Virat looks fine, he’s okay,” said Flower in the post-match press conference.

RCB’s Batting Struggles

Virat Kohli had a rare failure with the bat, getting out for just 7 runs off 6 balls against Arshad Khan. This was the first time in IPL 2025 that the RCB opener couldn’t score at least 40 runs. He attempted a pull shot off the GT pacer but ended up hitting it straight to the fielder at deep backward square leg.

RCB had a bad start as Phil Salt scored 14 runs, Devdutt Padikkal(4), and captain Rajat Patidar (12) fell early, leaving them in trouble at 42/4 in 6.2 overs. But Jitesh Sharma (33 off 21) and Liam Livingstone (54 off 40) fought back with a steady 52-run stand in 38 balls, helping RCB recover.

GT’s Comfortable Chase

Tim David played a quick and important knock, scoring 32 runs off 18 balls, to give his team a strong finish. Mohammed Siraj was the star with the ball, taking 3 wickets for just 19 runs in his four overs, causing trouble for the RCB batters.

Chasing the target, GT made it look easy, reaching it in 17.5 overs. Sai Sudharsan played a steady knock of 49 off 36 balls, while Jos Buttler took charge with an unbeaten 73 off just 39 deliveries. In the end, GT won comfortably by eight wickets, handing RCB their first defeat of the season.
