IND vs ENG: Virat Kohli Shuts Down Critics With A Stunning Half-Century In Ahmedabad
Virat Kohli shut down his critics in style with a half-century in the third ODI against England in Ahmedabad. Returning to form with a commanding innings, Kohli once again reminded the world why he is regarded as one of the finest batters of his generation.
After Shubman Gill set a strong start, Kohli took over, playing his classic shots and effortlessly hitting Liam Livingstone all around the field. The challenge of facing Adil Rashid’s spin was not an easy one. Kohli, who initially looked settled, found himself troubled by Rashid’s turn and drift. Eventually, his luck ran out when he edged a beautifully pitched leg-stump delivery that sharply turned away, straight into the keeper’s gloves.
Kohli got out, but he played an excellent innings, hitting seven boundaries and a six. Also, he made history by becoming the first Indian batter to score 4,000 international runs against England.
Rashid has now dismissed Kohli 11 times in international cricket, proving to be one of the few bowlers who consistently trouble the Indian star. Only Tim Southee of New Zealand and Australia’s Josh Hazlewood have dismissed Kohli more times in all formats.
Kohli's impressive record against England includes eight centuries and 23 half-centuries, with an average of 41.23.
The iconic Australian cricketer, Sir Don Bradman holds the first place with an astonishing number of runs: 5028 from 37 Test matches against England.
