IND A vs AUS A, Day 1 Highlights: Konstas Century Powers Visitors, Dubey Strikes Back

The opening day of the first unofficial Test in Lucknow didn’t go well for a young India A side, as Australia A took control. Sam Konstas played a brilliant attacking innings, smashing a century to put his team in a strong position at 337/5 by stumps. For India, Harsh Dubey was the bright spot, picking up three wickets. Australia have struggled to replace David Warner at the top of the order. To add to their woes, Khawaja at 38 is not getting any younger. Konstas made his debut in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, famously duelling with Jasprit Bumrah.
He was however not considered ahead with Marnus Labuschagne among the many options tried. On Tuesday, Konstas slammed a century in just 120 deliveries, against several IPL stalwarts. A recall to the side with the Ashes on the horizon would not be a surprise. Harsh Dubey was the standout bowler for India A on a tough day in the field. The left-arm spinner worked hard for his 3 wickets, finishing with 3/88 from 21 overs. While the rest of the attack struggled, Dubey showed skill and control, giving India some hope.
Konstas Shines with Century, Dubey Impresses for India A on Opening Day
He had a brilliant Ranji Trophy last season, ending as the top wicket-taker and even setting a new record for most wickets in a single season. A short spell with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL also added to his experience. India’s Test squad is already full of quality spinners like Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar, so breaking into the side won’t be easy. But with the way Dubey is performing, he is making a strong case for himself in the future. Prasidh Krishna missed out on the squad for Asia Cup 2025 but turned up for the India A game. Krishna had a difficult outing, bowling just 11 overs and going wicketless.
The Karnataka star was ineffective with the new ball, allowing both Australian openers to get some quick runs. Prasidh had a difficult start in England as well but managed to bounce back in the final Test with 8 wickets. The Gujarat Titans pacer will hope for it to be the case again in Lucknow.
