“If They Truly Want It, They Can Collect the Trophy from the ACC Office” – Mohsin Naqvi
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Mohsin Naqvi has finally spoken about the Asia Cup trophy issue. The matter became a big talking point after India did not receive the trophy despite beating Pakistan in the final on Sunday. The Indian players also refused to take the trophy from Naqvi and later went back to their hotel without it.
After facing heavy criticism, Mohsin Naqvi shared a post on social media about the issue. He said he did nothing wrong by not giving India the Asia Cup trophy after the final and mentioned that the team can take it from the ACC office if they want. He also made it clear that he did not apologize to the BCCI in the recent ACC meeting and said he never will.
“Indian media thrives on lies, not facts. Let me make it absolutely clear: I have done nothing wrong, and I have never apologized to the BCCI nor will I ever do so. This fabricated nonsense is nothing but cheap propaganda, aimed only at misleading their own people. Unfortunately, India continues to drag politics into cricket, damaging the very spirit of the game. As ACC President, I was ready to hand over the trophy that very day, nd I am still ready now. If they truly want it, they are welcome to come to the ACC office and collect it from me,” Naqvi wrote on X.

Earlier, PTI reported that BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla questioned Mohsin Naqvi strongly during the ACC meeting in Dubai on Tuesday. The two had a heated exchange, where Shukla reminded Naqvi that the Asia Cup trophy is not anyone’s personal property and must be given properly to the winners. In reply, Naqvi defended himself by saying the ACC had not told him that India would refuse to take the trophy from him.
"I was standing there as a cartoon without any reason. There was no information to ACC in writing that the Indian team would not accept it from me." Naqvi said.
The meeting ended without any solution, as Naqvi said he would address the matter on a different platform. It’s still unclear how long the controversy will continue and when India will finally receive the Asia Cup trophy they rightfully won.
