In the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 some players performed well and they were nominated for the ICC Player of the Tournament award. Some of these players are Sanju Samson, Will Jacks, Sahibzada Farhan, Lungi Ngidi, Aiden Markram, Rachin Ravindra, Tim Seifert, and Shadley van Schalkwyk.

The first Player of the Tournament award went to Shahid Afridi in the 2007 T20 World Cup tournament, in which India won after beating Pakistan in the final. In 2024, Jasprit Bumrah won this award after taking 15 wickets in 8 matches with an economy rate of 4.17.
