ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Awards: Sanju Samson Named Player of the Tournament, Jasprit Bumrah Shines in Final

In the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 some players performed well and they were nominated for the ICC Player of the Tournament award. Some of these players are Sanju Samson, Will Jacks, Sahibzada Farhan, Lungi Ngidi, Aiden Markram, Rachin Ravindra, Tim Seifert, and Shadley van Schalkwyk.

After two important contributions in both semi finals and finals, Sanju Samson won the Player of the Tournament award for his good performance. The Indian cricket team also made history in this tournament. India became the first team to win three ICC T20 World Cup tournaments, the first team to win the tournament two consecutive times, and also won it in their home country.

This award makes Sanju Samson the third Indian player to win the Player of the Tournament award in the T20 World Cup tournament. Before this, Virat Kohli won this award two times in 2014 and 2016. The first Player of the Tournament award went to Shahid Afridi in the 2007 T20 World Cup tournament, in which India won after beating Pakistan in the final. In 2024, Jasprit Bumrah won this award after taking 15 wickets in 8 matches with an economy rate of 4.17.
