ICC Hall of Fame 2025: World Cup Winning Greats MS Dhoni and Hayden Inducted
MS Dhoni, the former captain of India, has been added to the ICC Hall of Fame. The announcement was made at a special event in London on Monday. Dhoni is one of seven people chosen this year five men and two women joining a group of 115 great cricketers who’ve been honoured over the years.
Dhoni is now the 11th Indian and the 9th male cricketer from India to receive this honour from the ICC. He started playing for India in 2004 and became captain in 2007, just in time for the very first T20 World Cup, which he won. Under his leadership, India also won the 2011 ODI World Cup and the Champions Trophy in 2013.
Dhoni played 350 ODIs and scored 10,773 runs with an average of 50.57 — a truly solid record. He had 10 centuries and 73 fifties to his name. In Test matches, he played 90 games and scored 4,876 runs, averaging just over 38. He also made nearly 300 dismissals as a wicketkeeper in Tests. His last game for India was the 2019 World Cup semifinal against New Zealand. A year later, in August 2020, he announced his retirement from international cricket.
"It is an honour to be named in the ICC Hall of Fame, which recognises the contributions of cricketers across generations and from all over the world, to have your name remembered alongside such all-time greats is a wonderful feeling. It is something that I will cherish forever." MS Dhoni said via the ICC.
Unorthodox, unconventional and effective 🙌

This year’s new inductees were chosen by a panel that included former Hall of Fame members, ICC officials and media experts.
