Harmanpreet Kaur Turns Her Focus to the Pakistan Fixture as the Rivalry Game Inches Closer
Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur is in high spirits despite losing their final warm-up game before they begin their World Cup campaign.
India to face Pakistan on Sunday
India will start their competition against arch-rivals Pakistan. Pakistan were unable to win a single warm-up game, and before that, they lost both of their completed fixtures in the Ireland tri-series as well.
But Harmanpreet is looking forward to the game against Pakistan. India and Pakistan are part of a difficult group where they will face, besides each other, Australia, South Africa, the Netherlands, and Bangladesh.
"We are really looking forward to that (Pakistan match)," Harmanpreet said after the loss to England.
India dominates match-up against Pakistan
Pakistan and India have played 16 T20I games against each other, with India winning 13 of those. Their last face-off came in Dubai during the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup, where India defeated Pakistan by six wickets.
The Indian captain believes that the two warm-up games have given them confidence to begin their World Cup on a high note.
"These two practice games have given us a lot of confidence and even today, even though we lost the game, but how Richa batted and I think that's a big positive for us.
"That's a big belief that if we stay on the pitch, we can turn the game anytime and I think these two (warm-up) games have given a lot of confidence, and hopefully we'll play our fearless cricket in our first game."
