
Gerhard Erasmus of Namibia Named ICC Men's Associate Cricketer of the Year
On Sunday, January 26, Gerhard Erasmus from Namibia won the ICC Men's Associate Cricketer of the Year. Erasmus is very good at batting in both formats of the white ball games, and he helped his team, Namibia, win a large number of important games. Gerhard wasn't just good with the bat, he was also very good at bowling off-spin. In his first game of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2. Erasmus did incredibly great when he played against Nepal. He bowled very well and took 5 wickets only giving 28 runs. He was also crucial when his team needed to score runs, marking the first time this year he scored 50 runs or more in a match. And he won the Player of the Match award.
Then, in the third game of the tournament, when they had to score 169 runs to win, and Erasmus scored the most runs in his team. He scored 52 runs in 56 balls and won the match.
Erasmus was very good at batting and bowling. Everyone saw how good he played in the T20 World Cup in 2024. He played very well during the game against Scotland when his team had to win.

Erasmus vs Scotland in the T20 World Cup
Erasmus played very well in the game against Scotland. He scored 52 runs in 31 balls and that made his team reach 155/9. After being very good at batting, he then was good at bowling also. He took 2 wickets and 29 runs were given in the 4 overs. He did all of this in the T20 World Cup. But although he played really well, his team still lost. Scotland won
In his team's only win of the tournament against Nepal, Erasmus starred again. He took 2 wickets for 20 runs in his four overs and then contributed 10 runs in the Super Over to seal the victory.
He scored many runs. When he played in ODIs, he scored 364 runs in 12 matches average of 33, and scored four 50's. Also, in T20Is, he played 13 matches and scored 363 runs. He had an average of 33, but his strike rate was 128.72.
Erasmus is proficient at both batting and bowling. In 12 one-day games, Erasmus took 18 wickets average of 22. One time, he took five wickets. He's also top-rate in T20 games, where he took 18 wickets average of 13.61.
