Fraser-McGurk signed by Rawalpindi as Australian representation surges in PSL
The eleventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) gets another Australian player with Team Rawalpindi roping in opening batter Jake Fraser-McGurk as a direct signing.
Fraser-McGurk join his Australian teammates
Fraser McGurk will join a strong contingent of Australian players set to play the league this season, notably including Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, David Warner, Spencer Johnson, Aaron Hardie, and Adam Zampa.
In total, there are 15 Australian players across 8 teams, the highest representation from any country, snapped up through a combination of direct signing and the auction.
Prior to the batter’s signing, Rawalpindi had been the only team besides Lahore Qalandars to not feature an Australian player.
Unsold during the auction
Interestingly, Fraser-McGurk went unsold during the PSL auction on Wednesday, where he had registered at a base price of PKR 42 million, the highest bracket in the league. Rawalpindi have not revealed the price at which they signed the batter.
Will IPL and BBL woes follow him in PSL?
The 23-year-old has featured in several franchise leagues, including the Big Bash League, where he has represented Melbourne Renegades for six years, the IPL, Major League Cricket, and ILT20.
His recent BBL and IPL seasons were pretty underwhelming, though he was contrarily impressive during the MLC 2025, scoring at an average of 25 while striking at a rate of 169.
Rawalpindi’s captain, Mohammad Rizwan, was also part of Fraser-McGurk’s BBL franchise, the Renegades, in the recent edition.
