Essex Women Appoint Danni Warren and Andy Tennant for New Era
Essex Cricket has announced the appointment of Danni Warren and Andy Tennant to lead their women's program as the team prepares for its transition to Tier 1 status next season.
Danni Warren, who previously served as the regional director of women's cricket for London and the East, will step into the role of performance director at Essex. Meanwhile, Andy Tennant, a former international player for Scotland and head coach of Sunrisers, will take on the role of director for the Essex Women's team.
"I am thrilled to assume this new position with Essex Women as we embark on a significant phase for women's professional cricket," Tennant remarked. "Having collaborated with Danni and many of the staff and players from Sunrisers, I am confident in the strength and potential of the team we are building here."
Tennant emphasized the importance of fostering an environment conducive to growth for both players and staff. "Our aim is to create a space where everyone can excel on and off the field. This is an incredible opportunity to establish lasting success and position Essex Women as a prominent force in the sport. We are all eager to get started."
Warren has been with Sunrisers since 2020, where she played a pivotal role in bringing Tennant on board ahead of the 2023 season. Together, they led Sunrisers to their inaugural title in the women's regional era last summer, defeating South East Stars in the final of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.
