Sarfaraz Khan Shines with Maiden Test Century Amid Personal Joys
Sarfaraz Khan showcased his talent during the first Test between India and New Zealand in Bengaluru, scoring his maiden Test century under pressure. As India struggled, the Mumbai batsman stepped up, demonstrating growing confidence with each innings. Although India faced defeat in the match, Sarfaraz received some joyous news at home, welcoming a baby boy shortly after his impressive performance.
Reflecting on his milestone, Sarfaraz expressed immense joy at reaching this significant achievement. "When I celebrated my century, it felt as if the grass was blue instead of green. I was so happy, it felt like I was flying in the sky," he said in a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Scoring for India has always been his dream, and achieving it was a moment of pure elation.
The young batter also credited his former Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate, Virat Kohli, for motivating him throughout his journey. "I've admired Virat Kohli since childhood and always dreamed of playing alongside him. That dream came true at RCB, but to play for the Indian team with him is special. He encouraged me to back my shots and play freely, instilling a lot of confidence in me. When legends like Kohli and Rohit Sharma acknowledge your efforts, it’s a proud moment," he remarked.
This recent success not only boosts Sarfaraz's prospects in the Indian lineup, but it also marks a new chapter in his life as he embraces fatherhood. Fans and selectors alike are keen to see how this talented young batsman continues to develop in the international arena.
