Daniels Sam's Heroic Innings Shattered Adelaide Strikers, Scored 30 Runs in the Second Last Over.
In the third game of the Big Bash League between Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunders, All-rounder Daniel Sams pulled victory from the Adelaide Strikers on the second last over by hitting three sixes and three boundaries in the 18th over.
Team Captain David Warner, leading Sydney Thunders this year for the first time, appreciated Sams’ Innings and his fireworks with the bat. In the first inning, Adelaide strikers scored 182 runs with 40 from Jake Weatherald and 45 from Jamie Overton, while in the end, James Bazley scored a quick-fire 31 runs in just 12 balls, hitting three boundaries and two sixes. While from the Thunders’ side, Lockie Ferguson and Chris Green took 3-3 wickets each.
When the Sydney Thunders came to bat to chase the target of 183, the team reached 140 in 18 overs with the help of Sam Kontas, 52 off 26 deliveries. The 19-year-old Kontas became the youngest player in BBL history to score a half-century and made the fastest fifty in Thunder’s history.
After Kontas' wicket, Adelaide Strikers needed 33 runs in the last two overs. In the 19th over, Daniel Sams was on the strike, and the bowler was leg spinner Lloyd Pope. Sams hit three boundaries and three sixes simultaneously in the over, scoring 30 runs in the over; his batting show turned the match on to the striker's side, finishing the game in the last over on Jamie Overton's fourth ball with a boundary.

Another reason for the defeat of strikers is the injury of famous West Indies player Fabian Allen, who is well known for his fielding. The team added him for the batting depth and spin bowling, and in this, he was very beneficial with the two overs he bowled in which he dismissed Sam Kontas. he got injured while saving a boundary on the rope on the short of Sam Billings, pulling his right Hamstring. This proved costly as Striker’s captain chose Lloyd to bowl after he left the field, which backfired. The victory gave confidence to the team and the team’s new captain, David Warner; on the other side, Sydney Thunders, new coach Tim Pain, faces defeat in his first match.
