Central Zone Clinches Duleep Trophy 2025 with Dominant Win Over South Zone

Central Zone lifted the Duleep Trophy 2025 in style, beating South Zone by 6 wickets at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground in Bengaluru to kick off the new domestic season.
Yash Rathod, Kumar Kartikeya, and Saransh Jain played key roles in the final, guiding Central to a dominant win on the last day. After winning the toss and choosing to bowl, Central’s bowlers struck early as Saransh Jain (5/49) and Kumar Kartikeya (4/53) bowled brilliantly to dismiss South Zone for just 149. In reply, Central batted strongly, piling up 511 runs and taking a massive first-innings lead of 362, which set the tone for their title-winning performance.

Rathod smashed 194, Rajat Patidar leading the side hit 101, Saransh Jain 69 and Danish Malewar 53. Left arm spinner Ankit Sharma (4/180) and Gurjapneet Singh (4/124) were the most successful bowlers for South Zone. It was a better display from the South batters in the 2nd innings as they managed to avoid an innings defeat. Ankit Sharma top scored with 99, C Andre Siddarth impressed with an unbeaten 84 with Smaran Ravichandran scoring 67 at number 3.
Kartikeya picked up 4 wickets again for 110 runs and Saransh Jain 3/130 both finishing with match hauls of 8 wickets each. Needing just 65 runs to win, Central Zone lost Danish Malewar (5), Shubham Sharma (8), Saransh Jain (4) and Patidar (13) to the accuracy of Gurjapneet Singh (2/21) and Ankit Sharma (2/22) but opener Akshay Wadkar (19*) held the fort and Rathod then hit the winning runs about an hour from lunch on day 5.
