CAN Suspends Sandeep Lamichhane for Code Breach
The leading cricket organization in Nepal has suspended Sandeep Lamichhane, a top spin bowler, for violating their rules. Lamichhane can't play in one game because of this. Also, they gave him three demerit points because he didn't follow the rules.
Lamichhane was upset about how the umpires were making calls in the Jay Trophy 2081. He posted on Facebook and said they had to improve immediately. But this caused him problems. The cricket leaders thought he broke one of their rules, code of 2.7. The game official and the team responsible for monitoring gameplay decided they needed to address his remarks.
Umpiring in Nepal needs significant improvement to ensure fairness for everyone involved. It seems the situation hasn't improved for quite a while. If no action is taken, the players will continue to grow frustrated with the terrible calls. Even though the team leaders tell the referee about the problem in their reports, nothing really seems to get better.
"It's very important for umpiring to become skilled so the game can be fair and the players can play better. I truly wish the important people in charge pay attention and make things better" Lamichhane posted on his Facebook on January 10.
Sandeep spoke to the leaders because he didn't agree what the referees said during the match. When a player on Sandeep's team, Bagmati, got out and the ability stopped, Sandeep went to speak to the heads. It was a game against Tribhuwan Army.
People are speaking again about the need for fairer rules when someone makes decisions in Nepali cricket games, and how players should behave kindly and follow the rules. Lamichhane has been noticed before for his frustation, on the field and off the field.
