Ben Stokes Injury Update: Out for Three Months with Hamstring Tear Recurrence
Ben Stokes, the man who leads the England Test cricket team, promised to commit to the team even though he can't play for three months because his hamstring got hurt again. Stokes hurt the same spot, his left hamstring while playing in the third Test against New Zealand last month.
The 33-year-old all-rounder had to leave the field on day three of England's heavy defeat at Seddon Park. He pulled up after bowling just his third over of the day, feeling pain in his left thigh after delivering a bouncer that was hit for four.
This injury is the same hamstring tear he suffered back in August while playing for Northern Superchargers in The Hundred tournament. That earlier injury kept him out of cricket for two months. After returning to England, scans confirmed the tear had flared up again.
Champions Trophy Participation Ruled Out:
This week, Stokes was told he couldn't play in the Champions Trophy in February because of health issues. He wasn't picked to play for England in the ODI group for that contest. Since England was eliminated from the 2023 World Cup in India, Stokes hasn't been in any ODI games for them; the ECB made this call regarding him not playing.
Stokes played utterly hard or difficult in the New Zealand series, where he was the team's captain. He had to bowl a lot, clearly 66.1 overs in just two games, which was the most he's ever done in that role. It must have been very hard on him. Even with all that work, he still did a great job getting seven players out and keeping his bowling average at 36.85. When it came to batting, he demonstrated by scoring an average of 52.66 over four innings. He really showed he can still do it.
Something else to overcome…go on then!!!!!!!!

I’ve got so much more left in this tank and so much more blood sweat and tears to go through for my team and this shirt.
There’s a reason I have a Phoenix permanently inked on my body
See you on the field to fuck some shit up
Stokes really struggled with his batting and bowling because he just couldn't balance them. In late 2023, he had knee surgery, which went really well, owing to then he could play in the summer games for England against the West Indies however, a hamstring injury was upsetting because it made him miss the series with Sri Lanka and the first test game against Pakistan.
Stokes came back for the last two tests against Pakistan, but despite his return, England ended up losing both matches, which meant they lost the series 2-1. Afterward, Stokes opened up regarding trying very hard or difficult to become fit again, which made him very tired and even made the team feel sad.
Before the important game, Stokes was feeling pretty hopeful regarding his shape. He said 'I've really pushed myself to be ready when the game sets forth. He admitted I am sure I can handle bowling many times again.' Stokes also mentioned that 'getting older actually helped him know his body more, which made him work even harder.'
Misses SA20 Tournament:
Stokes won't be playing in the upcoming SA20 tournament and has to give up a £800,000 deal with MI Cape Town because he must go through more rehab. England's next Test series is beginning on May 22 against Zimbabwe but unfortunately, he will not be playing in that one either.
