BCCI Review Meeting on Border Gavaskar Trophy: Rohit Sharma to Keep Captaincy, Fitness Standards, Team Management Changes Ahead

BCCI Review Meeting: Rohit Sharma to Continue as CaptainThe BCCI headquarters, there was an important discussion about the Border Gavaskar Trophy on January 11. They discussed whether Rohit Sharma should stay as the captain of the team and about new rules for the team when they travel to different countries. Rohit Sharma, Gautam Gambhir the coach, Ajit Agarkar, and some board members were all there. Nobody knows everything they clearly wrote down, but it seems like these things might be true.

Highlights from BCCI's review meeting on the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT)

Rohit Sharma will remain as captain

In the meeting, they decided Rohit Sharma should still be the team captain. Some heads wanted him to stop being the captain because he didn't win against New Zealand and Australia series. But the cricket leaders said, no, let's take our time, and chose to support him. They said Sharma told them to find a new captain, but he'll still be in charge for a while.

Yo-Yo Tests Make a Comeback as Fitness Standards Face Renewed Scrutiny

The cricket team in India didn't perform very well in the recent games. Because of that, the leaders are thinking about checking if the players are healthy and strong again. Before, when Virat Kohli was the captain, there was a unique running exam to find out how healthy and strong the players were. But then, when the new coach, Rahul Dravid, came, they stopped doing it to be certain the players were becoming tired or injured.

Due to challenges faced by Gautam Gambhir and other team members in maintaining their health, and the overall performance not always being up to par, the key leaders have decided to reintroduce regular health check-ups for the team. They want to develop a good action plan to make sure all the players can run and move smoothly so they can play better in their games.

IPL > Tests a big problem!

In our important meeting, some important people were worried because it seemed as if the players didn't feel very interested in Test cricket. Some players appeared indifferent when India didn't win those games. People said that the leaders of the team know that Test cricket is very important, but a lot of players don't feel as happy about it. Also, the leaders are not happy because it looks as if the players like earning money in the IPL more than playing the Test cricket.

Incentive-based compensation

BCCI doesn't want to give extra rewards to players just for playing the special long cricket matches . They are thinking about paying players for based on there performance. If players don't play as well as they should, they may potentially get less money, similar to how adults have their work reviewed annually to assess their performance.

Limitations on family and individual travel

The heads make the rules for cricket in India, the BCCI, want to make new strict rules about when players can have their families come along during travels for matches. If a series tour is really long, such as 45 days, family can only visit for 14 days. If it's not too long, they only get 7 days. They said this because they think that having family present could interfere with the players' ability to perform at their best. Also, players can't bring people such as the hair cutters, their cooking peoples, or their bodyguard with them anymore.

The heads who decide cricket rules said all players have to travel together on the same team bus. Before, players could travel to locations alone, but that has changed. They think being together all the time will make the team. Everyone on the team has to travel the same way.

Addressing leaks from dressing room conversations

In last meeting, there was a problem because someone told the news people about secrets from the team's dressing room. People say the head coach, Gambhir, told everyone that Sarfaraz Khan was the one who told the secrets. This happened after the India Australia match on Boxing Day, and Gambhir was really upset because our team did not perform well. Old cricket players got upset because they don't enjoy it when team secrets get out.

Gambhir's coaching team is under scrutiny

Gautam Gambhir's team coach have some problems. The heads at BCCI aren't very pleased with how the team did when they played recent games, especially when they went to Australia. Everybody discussed when Gambhir got upset at Morne Morkel with bowling coach. Morkel came late to practice and Gambhir scolded him in front of everyone. After that happened, Morkel didn't speak much and seemed a bit quiet and the heads of the team, Everyone's saying that Nayar isn't doing much that's important because even the older players on the team told the major leaders that he's not helping a lot. Doeschate is being scolded because he hasn't played in many major international games, so some people are wondering if he can truly help the team improve.

New batting coach

Some good players who play cricket in India didn't played well while batting when they played games in Australia. Because they weren't playing very well, the top cricket authority in India may bring in a new coach to improve the team's hitting skills. I heard from TOI that they might pick someone named Sitanshu Kotak to be that coach.
