Alzarri Joseph's Heated On-Field Dispute with Captain Shai Hope Mars West Indies' Victory Over England
In a dramatic turn of events during the third one-day international match against England, West Indies' fast bowler Alzarri Joseph made headlines for the wrong reasons. Joseph, visibly upset with his captain Shai Hope's field placements, staged a remarkable on-field protest, leaving the field in anger despite having taken a wicket earlier in the game.
The match, held in Barbados, saw West Indies secure an eight-wicket win over England, clinching the series 2-1. Brandon King and Keacy Carty were the stars of the show, scoring centuries in a 209-run partnership that steered the team to victory. Carty reached his maiden century from 97 balls, finishing with an unbeaten 128, while King scored 102 from 113 deliveries.
The heated exchange between Joseph and Hope occurred before the fourth over, which Joseph bowled. After a contentious ball was played, Joseph angrily confronted Hope, leading to him walking off the field, only to return after a brief interval. West Indies coach Daren Sammy had to intervene to calm the dispute.
Despite the internal turmoil, Joseph's performance with the ball was commendable, dismissing Jordan Cox with a fierce delivery at 148 kph. England, who had started poorly at 24-4, managed to reach a competitive total of 263-9, thanks to half-centuries from Phil Salt and Dan Mousley.
