Afghanistan’s Allah Ghazanfar Ruled Out of Champions Trophy & IPL 2025 Due to Fracture

Afghanistan’s Allah Ghazanfar Ruled Out of Champions Trophy & IPL 2025 Due to FractureIn a big setback for Mumbai Indians, Afghan spinner Allah Ghazanfar has been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy and IPL 2025. The 18-year-old will be out for at least four months due to a back injury. The five-time champions signed the Afghan spinner for Rs 4.80 crore in the mega auction. Now, MI will have to find a replacement for the overseas player.

Ghazanfar has been ruled out due to a fracture in the L4 vertebra. The Afghanistan Cricket Board stated that the spinner will be sidelined for at least four months while receiving treatment. Allah started his ODI career strong and became the fifth youngest player to take a five-wicket haul in ODIs.

"AM Ghazanfar, has been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy due to a fracture in the L4 vertebra, specifically in the left pars interarticularis." ACB said in statement on Wednesday.

"He (Ghazanfar) sustained the injury during Afghanistan's recently held tour Zimbabwe, and will be sidelined for a minimum of four months and will remain under treatment during this period," it added.

Ghazanfar has limited experience in T20 cricket. In 19 matches so far, he has taken 30 wickets. The spinner is yet to make his T20I debut for Afghanistan. In ILT20, Ghazanfar played three matches for MI Emirates but managed to take only one wicket.

Allah was expected to play alongside Mitchell Santner in IPL 2025. But now MI will have to look for a replacement from last minute for the Afghan spinner. On a positive note, Jasprit Bumrah is expected to be fit for the tournament by the time the IPL 2025 starts.
