ACA Set to Build India’s Largest Cricket Stadium in Amaravati
The Andhra Crickеt Association (ACA) has come up with a bold plan to build India's largest cricket stadium, with sеating for 1.25 lakh spectators. It aims to dethrone the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. To that end, the ACA has asked the state government for 60 acrеs of land in Amaravati.
It is going to be part of the 200-acre sports city that is planned for Amaravati, said Kesineni Sivanath, who is the President of ACA and Vijayawada MP. "The funding is going to be from BCCI, and some extra local contributions." Kesineni also said that this stadium will put Amaravati on the world map and boost India's sports infrastructure.
Also, the ACA is planning to bid for the 2029 National Games to shift major sporting events to Amaravati. It is also building a sports village to help make Amaravati a hub for sports and entertainment. Organizing such events will further establish the city as a top sports destination
Bеsides the stadium, the ACA is planning to create three state-of-the-art cricket academies in Andhra Pradesh. These academies are to be set up in North Coastal Andhra, Vijayawada, and Rayalasеema. Former Indian cricketers Mithali Raj and Robin Singh will be in charge of the training programs so that young cricketers get the best coaching.
As part of the development plans, the ACA is upgrading the Visakhapatnam Stadium with advanced facilities. The main goal of these improvements is to make the stadium the best venue for hosting Indian Premier League (IPL) matches so that this region also becomes an attractive hub for premier cricket events.
Kesineni is very confident about the future of Andhra cricket and believes that the initiatives taken by the ACA will definitely nurture local talent. He feels that within the next two years, at least 15 players from Andhra Pradesh will be able to make it to the IPL, which will be a big achievement for the region.
