"MSK Prasad Advocates for Cheteshwar Pujara's Inclusion in Border-Gavaskar Trophy Squad"

Former Indian player and chief selector MSK Prasad believes that Cheteshwar Pujara deserves a spot in the 2024 Border-Gavaskar Trophy squad. He emphasized Pujara's familiarity with Australian conditions and his impressive track record during previous tours.

"Absolutely, Pujara should be included based on his outstanding Ranji Trophy performance. It’s crucial to retain players who have consistently contributed, and Pujara is one of them," Prasad stated in an interview with RevSportz.

Pujara's last Test appearance was during the World Test Championship final against Australia at The Oval, after which he was replaced by Shubman Gill. Prasad pointed out Pujara's recent double century in the Ranji Trophy, highlighting his ability to apply pressure on opposing teams, particularly Australia.

"He scored a double hundred in the Ranji and remains a formidable player. At 35-36, he’s still at a prime stage in his career. His presence at the crease instills confidence in teammates and creates pressure for the opposition,” he added.

Prasad also recalled Pujara's vital contributions in the previous two series against Australia, stating, "His performance was key to our series victories. The team feels more secure when he’s batting."
