Current India Wicketkeeper Unhappy with Gautam Gambhir Over ODI Snub: Report
During the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, there were reports of disagreements within the Indian team. Some former Australian cricketers suggested that things weren’t smooth behind the scenes. Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri blamed the Australian media for creating fake stories.
Now, same-like reports have emerged once again, suggesting that an Indian player is unhappy with head coach Gautam Gambhir. The player is reportedly upset over his exclusion from the playing XI in the Champions Trophy and holds Gambhir responsible for the decision.
A Times Now report has highlighted that a wicketkeeper-batsman is unhappy about not being the first-choice pick under Gautam Gambhir’s leadership. The report didn’t directly mention any names, it was quite clear that the player in question was Rishabh Pant.
“Sources have told to Time Now that a wicket-keeper batter is miffed with the head coach. He is not the first-choice keeper in the Playing XI. He feels that an external pressure is the reason behind him being sidelined,” the report said.
KL Rahul has been India's first-choice wicketkeeper in one-day internationals and featured in all three matches against England. The team management has shown more trust in him over Rishabh Pant in the 50-over format.
Rahul has scored 1,438 runs in his ODI career at an impressive average of 51.35 and a strike rate of 92.17.
