Rajasthan Royals’ IPL journey: From victory to playoff eliminations and suspension

Rajasthan Royals is a cricket franchise that debuted in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008. They were the winners of the first-ever IPL under the leadership of the late Shane Warne. However, they struggled in the playoffs stage from 2009 to 2012 and were suspended from the IPL for two years in connection with a betting scandal. They made a comeback in 2018 and reached the playoffs but were eliminated in the group stage in the next three editions. Rajasthan Royals have had notable players such as Shane Warne, Rahul Dravid, Shane Watson, Jos Buttler, and Ajinkya Rahane. Jos Buttler is the highest run-scorer for the franchise, while Shane Watson is the leading wicket-taker. The Rajasthan Royals' 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) squad features a new-look core following the major trade of former captain Sanju Samson to Chennai Super Kings for all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran. Riyan Parag currently serves as the team’s captain, leading a young and dynamic side.
