WPL 2026: Gujarat Giants Announced Retained and Released Players Before Mega Auction

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) has established a framework for holding on to players ahead of the big WPL auction of 2026. Each team can retain a maximum of five players, with specific rider on the number of Indian players and overseas players that are allowed to be retained
Ahead of the WPL 2026 mega auction, the Gujarat Giants have retained only two players for the squad, captain Ashleigh Gardner and Beth Mooney. Gardner has been secured for ₹3.5 crore, while Mooney has been retained for ₹2.5 crore
The team has released Laura Wolvaardt, Harleen Deol, Phoebe Litchfield, and others. Retaining only two players gives the Giants a ₹9 crore purse, which is the second highest behind UP Warriorz. Following a playoff place for the first time in 2025, Gujarat will look to improve and make a deeper playoff run in IPL 2026.
