WPL 2026: Ashleigh Gardner Confirmed as Gujarat Giants Captain
On Monday, Gujarat Giants announced that Ashleigh Gardner as their captain for the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2026). The matches of WPL will start from January 9, 2026, onward, with defending champions Mumbai Indians squaring off with 2024 title winners Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the opener, whereas GG will face UPW in their first match on January 10. Gardner, who led the GG in 2025 too, was retained at Rs 3.50 crore in the mega auction.
GG released an Instagram post, and the official news of Gardner being part of the team for WPL 2026 came to light on Monday. Under Gardner's leadership, GG secured the third position on the basis of the points table in WPL 2025 with a total of 8 points to their name in 4 winning matches.
