WPL 2025: Top 3 Indian Batters To Watch Out For

WPLWPL 2025: Top 3 Indian Batters To Watch Out For, Squads and Full Schedule

WPL 2025, in its third season, is all set to create a roar among women's cricket fans, especially in India. The third edition of the world’s biggest women's franchise T20 league, will be played in the upcoming four weeks. After the tremendous success of the last two seasons, the upcoming season is expected to be more entertaining. Here are the top three Indian batters to watch out for in the upcoming edition of the Women’s Premier League.

The tournament will start on 14th February and will last over a month and will complete on 15th March with the finals. Similar to last year, the tournament will be played in 4 venues across the country: Bengaluru, Mumbai, Lucknow and Vadodara. The tournament will be played in a double-round-robin format with two playoff matches.

Shafali Verma (Delhi Capitals)

21-year-old Shefali Verma of Delhi Capitals is one of the key Indian batters to watch out for in the women's Premier League. After coming from you said back as she was dropped from the Indian team in December last year, she will try to perform well in the upcoming women's Premier League to get her spot in the national team back. After getting dropped from the Indian team, she performed exceptionally well in domestic cricket, scoring 527 runs in the Senior Women's One Day trophy while scoring 414 runs in the Challengers Trophy, including a century and three half-centuries.

Her explosive batting and Meg Lanning's class make the Delhi Capitals opening Duo one of the most ruthless in the tournament. She will be watched closely in the upcoming season given her explosive batting and ability to change the direction of the match in just a matter of few overs

Richa Ghosh (Royal Challengers Bengaluru)

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s other key batter, Richa Ghosh, will be the other Indian batter to be watched closely in the upcoming season of the women's Premier League. Richa, who bats in the lower order, is also the team finisher and wicketkeeper. Her hitting abilities make her one of the best Indian finishers in the tournament. In the recent series against Australia in December, she scored an impressive 96 runs and is coming with great form.

In her WPL career of 18 matches, Richa has scored 395 runs at an impressive stripe rate of 1309.57. She has also been impressive behind the stumps, with 12 dismissals in the last season.

Smriti Mandhana (Royal Challengers Bengaluru)

The third player on our list of three Indians to watch out for in the women's Premier League 2025 season is Smriti Mandhana. The RCB skipper, who led the team to its first-ever WPL trophy, will also be closely watched for her batting.

Though Mandhana had not been consistent in the previous season of the women's Premier League, fishing at an average of 24.94 has proved worth with the impactful performances throughout the season, especially in his 80 of 50 balls innings in the WPL 2024 eliminator against Mumbai Indians, lead RCB to the final.

Mandhana is in great form. In the recent series against Ireland, she scored a century. Given her legacy and great form just before the tournament, she could be the highest run scorer in the upcoming season.
