World Test Championship 2025–27 Points Table Updated The first Test of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh finished in a draw on June 21 at Galle. There were plenty of exciting moments and big milestones and the result al ready shook up the points table. Now that the new cycle has kicked off after the 2025 final, all teams have a clean slate and Sri Lanka and Bangladesh sit at the top.

Batting first, Bangladesh scored 495 runs, thanks to a strong 264-run partnership between captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (148) and Mushfiqur Rahim (163). Sri Lanka responded well, led by a brilliant 187 off 256 balls from Pathum Nissanka is among the top five active players with the highest first-class averages. Despite his efforts, Sri Lanka fell short by 10 runs in the first innings.

The match moved at a slow pace with Bangladesh taking up 87 overs in their second innings and using up most of the final day. Shanto stayed unbeaten on 125 becoming only the 18th Test captain to score centuries in both innings and the first from Bangladesh to do it.

With 39 overs left, Bangladesh set Sri Lanka a target of 296. Sri Lanka struggled early at 48 for 4, but Kamindu Mendis and captain Dhananjaya de Silva steadied things and helped secure a draw. Both teams earned four points each starting their World Test Championship campaigns with a points percentage of 33.33. In the previous cycle, Sri Lanka came close to reaching the final but losses to South Africa and Australia pushed them down to sixth just above Bangladesh.
