Watson: Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's poor Test form won't affect their performance in the Champions Trophy
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma not played well in test cricket in BGT, Shane Watson, a former Australian cricketer, still thinks they're going to be crucial for India in the Champions Trophy. Watson says that, even though they've been getting a lot of flak, their amazing track records in one day internationals can't be ignored, implying they still have a large part to play.
Watson also mentioned that whatever is taking place in the Border Gavaskar Trophy shouldn't really change what they can offer in the upcoming tournament. With the Champions Trophy getting closer, Watson pointed out how playing in Test cricket is completely different compared to ODIs. He was really impressed by how well Kohli and Rohit did in the 2023 ODI World Cup specifically, how they showed they're extremely proficient at the shorter game.

"Watson was saying that, in one day cricket, especially with the Dubai conditions being different, it essentially gives them more time, considering they're both very good in the format. He doesn't believe their current form is going to make that much of a difference", Watson said.
"Watson praised Rohit for being aggressive in the 2023 World Cup, confidently taking control of the game. He said that we will watch Kohli's great abilities at handling his innings during the Champions Trophy, calling it extraordinary. Watson pointed out how Kohli has been a master at One Day cricket for a long time, having an average of about 57 and a strike rate of 93".
Watson still believes Rohit and Kohli will do well in the Champions Trophy, even though they haven't been doing great in Test cricket. Rohit's been having a hard time, scoring an average of only 10.93 in the last three series, and Kohli's performances have been changing all the time. Watson mentioned, In ODIs, they can really show what they're capable of because it's a different game from Test cricket. Rohit knows how to take charge when he's playing well, and I think we will notice that from him in the Champions Trophy.
India is having the sincere intention to win back the Champions Trophy, and for that, they are relying on Kohli and Rohit. Since they've been in a large amount of important ODI tournaments, their knowledge and past performances are going to be important for India to do well.
