WATCH - Harry Brook and Siraj Exchange Words in Heated Moment During 1st Test
Mohammed Siraj was upset. He had bowled really well on the second day of the India vs England 1st Test but didn’t get any wickets. After working hard again on the third day, he finally got one — the wicket of England captain Ben Stokes. Still, India wasn’t in control of the match. In the 86th over, Siraj had no answer to the aggressive batting of Harry Brook. The fast bowler has looked out of rhythm and not very consistent since his first spell with the new ball on Day 2. So far in the innings, his only success was dismissing Ben Stokes in the 65th over.
This wasn’t the first time Siraj got into tense situations, he had similar heated moments with Australian batters Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head during the 2024–25 Border-Gavaskar series, which even led to a fine from the ICC.

He bowled without a break, but after 21 overs, he had only one wicket. The batter missed a few balls, edged some, and played some poor shots, but nothing worked in Siraj’s favour. Then, in his 22nd over, Harry Brook decided to attack him. Brook had been lucky — he was caught off a no-ball and dropped twice. Siraj had the new ball, and Brook wanted to break his rhythm. So, he stepped out and hit him hard. In the 86th over, Brook had already scored 10 runs off 4 balls from Siraj. But Siraj came back well with a great ball that swung back in and hit Brook on the elbow.
The batter was hurt and moved away. Siraj looked at him and said something, but Brook didn’t seem to care. He simply told the fast bowler to go back and keep bowling. Siraj didn’t like that either. The moment fired him up. But things didn’t go India’s way. In the last two balls of the over, Siraj gave away 8 runs. Two boundaries - one off the leg and another a sharp cut to deep point. Thankfully for India, Brook got out soon after. It was a relief especially after giving him three chances.
