Wahab Riaz Appointed Pakistan Women’s Team Mentor Following World Cup SetbackFormer Pakistan fast bowler and ex-selector Wahab Riaz has been requested to mentor the national women’s side as they start on a whites-ball series in South Africa next month. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has on Wednesday confirmed that Wahab Riaz is going to be the mentor of the team. He is going to be supported by a coaching staff consisting of former players Imran Farhat and Abdul Rehman.

The women’s team will be lead by Fatima Sana for both white ball formats and will mark the beginning of their campaign after the previous debacle at the ICC World Cup held in November last year in India and Sri Lanka.

Pakistan finished last in the eight-team competition, which led to the removal of former head coach Mohammad Wasim. Wahab, who has been associated with the board in different roles over the past two years, is presently handling the training camp of the Pakistan Woman’s players at Karachi.

The series is to start from the 10th of February with the inclusion of two uncapped players, Saira Jabeen and Humma Bilal, in the T20 International side, while the inclusion of Ayesha Zafar, Gull Feroza, Tasmia Rubab, and Najiha Alvi has been made in the ODI side. These matches are a sign to the ICC Women’s T20I World Cup, which is set to take place in June.
