Virat Kohli's Nephew and Sehwag's Sons Garner Attention at Delhi Premier League 2025 Auction

The Delhi Premier League 2025 auction, held on July 6, witnessed a remarkable moment as 15-year-old Aryaveer, nephew of former Indian captain Virat Kohli, and the sons of legendary Indian opener Virender Sehwag, Aryavir and Vedant, were part of the bidding process.

Aryaveer, a leg-spinner, was secured by South Delhi Superstarz for Rs 1 lakh. Central Delhi Kings acquired Virender Sehwag's 18-year-old son Aryavir for Rs 8 lakh. Meanwhile, Vedant, Sehwag's younger son and an off-spinner, was picked up by West Delhi Lions for Rs 4 lakh.

The inaugural season of the tournament took place in 2024, with North Delhi Strikers emerging as champions after a thrilling final against South Delhi Superstarz, winning by three runs. The tournament has expanded from six to eight franchises for this edition, with the addition of Outer Delhi Warriors and New Delhi Tigers.

Each team entered the 2025 auction with a budget of 1.50 crore. Teams were permitted to retain one player before the auction and also had a Right to Match (RTM) card at their disposal.
