Virat Kohli Suffers Injury in Practice Session Ahead of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Final

India has suffered a big setback before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final. According to Geo News, Virat Kohli hurt his knee during practice ahead of the match against New Zealand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, March 9. India had a tough training session on Friday, March 7, at the ICC Academy in Dubai. All eyes were on Kohli as he prepared for the final, but while batting, he injured his knee, which worried many fans.

While batting against a pacer, Kohli was hit near his knee and was definitely in a lot of pain. He had to stop his training as physiotherapists came to his aid quickly. They can be seen spraying the area and putting a bandage on it.

Kohli's Injury Scare But No Major Concern

Following the incident, Kohli stopped his practice of batting in the nets. Although in pain, he stayed on the ground, watching the rest of the session closely and assuring his team members and support staff regarding his well-being for the final. Fortunately, an Indian coaching staff member assured that his injury is minor and that he will play the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final against New Zealand.

As per the Times of India, Kohli worked extra on the left-arm seamers and spinners in the nets prior to the New Zealand game. He was leaving no stone unturned to counter the spin challenge from the Kiwis. Virat Kohli has been India's pillar in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. His match-winning innings in two of the four matches that he played guided the team to the final without a loss.

Kohli is India's top run-scorer in the ICC Champions Trophy, amassing 217 runs from four games at an average of over 72. He hit a fantastic century against Pakistan in the league stage and then showed his class in the semi-final against Australia with an impressive 84-run innings that helped rescue the team. With his remarkable form, he is set to play a crucial role in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
