Virat Kohli skips chole poori in favor of his old-time favorite during training return in Delhi
Virat Kohli has returned to training for Delhi ahead of their Ranji Trophy game against Railways. Kohli decided to skip Chhole Poori, his favorite food, at lunchtime. Kohli hasn't played in a game for Delhi for nearly 13 years. Kohli is also sharpening his skills in preparation for the upcoming England series and the Champions Trophy in February.
On Tuesday morning, Virat Kohli came to the Arun Jaitley Stadium for a practice session. Kohli practiced multiple running and fielding drills. Kohli playing a wide range of shots off the back foot. When it is lunchtime, the Districts Association officials thought Virat would pick his favorite dish, Chhole Poori. But, After the practice session, Virat Kohli skipped chhole poori and instead shared his teammate's kadhi chawal for lunch.
“Woh badlaa nahi hain. Usko chole-puri pasand the aur humne mangaake rakhha thaa. Usne bola chole puri nahi khaoonga (He loves chole puri, we made arrangements for him but he said he didn't want it)," a senior DDCA official told the news agency PTI.
However, once the training was done, Kohli did gorged on an old favorite.
“Practice ke baad purane time ki tarah kadhi chawal khaya sabke saath (H kadhi chawal with everyone like old times)," revealed the official.
Why is Virat Kohli nicknamed "Cheeku"?
Virat Kohli is called "Cheeku" by his friends and players. Ashok Sharma, DDCA secretary revealed that nickname got from Ajit Chaudhary. Ajit Chaudhary, Delhi Ranji team manager, is the one who started calling him that. Everyone still calls him Cheeku.
Ashok Sharma, DDCA secretary, says with a cheerful grin, When I was younger, in the 2006-07 season, he started calling a player 'Cheeku'. That name has stuck ever since.
