Virat Kohli Arrest: Police Complaint Filed After RCB Parade Turns Deadly

Virat Kohli Arrest: Police Complaint Filed After RCB Parade Turns Deadly

Virat Kohli Arrest: After the historic victory in IPL 2025, the victory journey of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) turned into a terrible accident. On June 4, 11 people lost their lives in the stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium, including many women and youth. This incident not only shocked cricket fans, but it is now also causing political and legal issues.

Police complaint against Virat Kohli

A complaint has been lodged against RCB star player and former Indian Test captain Virat Kohli. Senior social worker H. M. Venkatesh gave this complaint at the Cubbon Park police station in Bangalore. The police have assured that his letter will be looked into. Although no FIR has been registered against Virat Kohli at the moment, an FIR has already been registered in connection with this accident.

Police had already refused to permit the parade

The Bangalore Police had already refused to allow the RCB trophy parade. Despite this, a huge crowd of people gathered near the stadium and Vidhan Soudha between 3 and 8 pm. It is being reported that RCB's marketing head, Nikil Sosale has already been arrested, who ignored the police warning and announced the trophy parade on social media.

Whose names are in the FIR?

After this horrific incident, the police have registered an FIR against the RCB team, the event management company, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). However, the KSCA has filed a petition in the High Court to cancel the FIR, calling itself innocent in this matter.

Statement of the Chief Minister and suspension

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah himself admitted that the crowd estimate was wrong. After this, many senior officials, including Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayanand, have been suspended. Also, a judicial commission has been formed to investigate the matter.

Whose fault was it in the organization?

Failure of operation was seen at many levels in this entire event. Neither RCB nor the organisers clarified how the event would be conducted, which led to chaos in the crowd. Videos that surfaced on social media show people in a suffocating state.

KSCA Leaders Request FIR Withdrawal, Say Celebration Was Government-Approved

KSCA President Raghuram Bhat, along with Secretary A Shankar and Treasurer E.S. Jayaram, went to court asking for the FIR against them to be cancelled.

According to the petition, the celebration event was convened on the orders of the Karnataka government.

"Celebrating the victory was in fact at the call of the Government," the petition said, adding that the felicitation was held at the Vidhana Soudha in the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, his deputy DK Shivakumar, and several Cabinet ministers. Senior bureaucrats and senior police officials were also in attendance, it said.
