Venkatesh Prasad Set to Become KSCA President After Nomination Scrutiny

Former Indian fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad is set to become the new president of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). This happened after officials checked all the nominations for different posts. Prasad had earlier served as the vice-president in the KSCA from 2010 to 2013.
Two others, K.N. Shanth Kumar and former women’s cricketer Kalpana Venkatachar, had also filed nominations for the president’s post. However, Shanth Kumar’s nomination was rejected due to technical issues, and Venkatachar later withdrew her application.
As a result, Prasad is now the only valid candidate, making him the next KSCA president. Prasad's panel, however, faced a setback of its own as former treasurer Vinay Mruthyunjaya, who was expected to contest for the secretary's post, failed the scrutiny round on technical grounds.
"This decision has been a personal setback, but it has not shaken my commitment or my resolve. In fact, it has only strengthened my belief in the change we are all striving for. My full strength, energy, and unwavering support now stand firmly behind Team Game Changers, ably led by our legendary cricketer Venkatesh Prasad," Mruthyunjaya said in a statement.
Venkatachar had applied for several posts, vice-president, treasurer and a place on the managing committee as a life member. From Team Game Changers, Sujith Somasundar, Santosh Menon and B.N. Madhukar were among the vice-president candidates who passed the scrutiny check.
Somasundar, who recently left his job as Head of Cricket Education at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, was already chosen as the panel’s main candidate for vice-president. Because of this, the other Game Changers members who cleared scrutiny might drop out of the race, which would leave Somasundar competing only against Team Brijesh’s D. Vinod Sivappa for the vice-president position.
Candidates can withdraw their names until November 26. After that, the final list of who is officially contesting will be released. As ordered by the High Court, the KSCA elections will be held on December 7. The election will be overseen by retired High Court judge Justice Subash B. Adi, and Dr. B. Basavaraaju (Retired IAS officer) will act as the Electoral Officer.
