Usama Mir's all-round finesse helps Worcestershire win their third game of the season
Pakistan leg-spinner Usama Mir turned up with both ball and bat as Worcestershire sealed their third win in four games this season. Batting first against Glamorgan, the side set a 168-run target but bowled the opposition out for a mere 141 to bag a 27-run win.
Usama bags a double
Usama, whose wicket tally this season reached seven in four games, grabbed two wickets, including Glamorgan's captain Kiran Carlson. Carlson, who had helped himself to a brisk 35 off 24 balls, was sent packing by Usama in the first over after the powerplay.
He also dismissed Timm van der Gugten with a length ball on the middle stump that crashed right into the wicket. He finished with a figure of 2/34 in his quota of four overs.
Usama’s blitz
This bowling display came after he produced a brilliant late-innings cameo. The leg-spinner scored 23 off just 10 balls, which included one four and two sixes. In a game where only four other batters crossed 20 runs across both innings, Usama's blitz proved crucial for Worcestershire.
In his previous game for the Vitality Blast franchise, the leg-spinner took 3/27 against Warwickshire, helping his side get over the line.
With three wins in four games, Worcestershire are currently in third place in the Vitality Blast Central & West Group. They will now face Gloucestershire in their next fixture on June 7.
