Travis Head Covid-19 Update: SRH Opener to Miss LSG Clash, Set to Arrive on May 19

Travis Head Covid 19 Update: SRH Opener to Miss LSG Clash, Set to Arrive on May 19

Sunrisers Hyderabad will be without their explosive batter Travis Head for the upcoming match against Lucknow Super Giants, as he hasn't arrived in India yet. SRH head coach Daniel Vettori shared an update on Sunday, saying that Head tested positive for COVID-19 and is expected to reach India on Monday morning. There’s also no certainty if Head will feature in any of SRH’s remaining games. The Hyderabad team is already out of the playoff hunt, sitting eighth on the IPL points table with just seven points from 11 matches.

After their game against LSG, Hyderabad will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 23 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. They’ll then end their league matches against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 25 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

“Travis is coming in tomorrow morning, he was delayed. He actually had COVID, so he couldn’t travel, so he’ll get in tomorrow morning and we’ll assess how he is after that,” Vettori told reporters during the press conference.

Travis Head’s Form Dips After Stellar 2024 Campaign

SRH started the season on a high note with a solid 44-run win over Rajasthan Royals, but things just didn’t go their way after that. Compared to last year’s finals run, this season has been really disappointing for them. They’ve only won three games and lost seven struggling to get their rhythm back.

Travis Head, who had an amazing season last year with 567 runs has not been able to find that form this time around, managing just 281 runs in 11 matches. However, it's not only Head who has struggled; key players like Abhishek Sharma, Heinrich Klaasen and even captain Pat Cummins haven’t really fired up consistently either. This has made it tough for SRH to click as a team this season.
