The Hundred auction: Will unsold Haris Rauf get another chance?
Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf did not find any takers in the Men’s Hundred 2026 during the Marquee Internationals phase. Haris, who was the only Pakistani player in the said phase, has previously represented Welsh Fire across two seasons in 2023 and 2024.
Interestingly, Fire are one of the four teams not bought by any IPL-linked owners following last season, when the ECB put partial and full stakes up for grabs. There were earlier reports that IPL-linked teams might not consider Pakistan players during the auction, though all eight franchises and the ECB jointly reiterated the opposite.
Haris’ teammate, Shaheen Shah Afridi, pulled out of the auction yesterday, with reports that he is focusing on Pakistan’s red-ball tour of the West Indies during the same window.
Will Rauf get another go during the Hundred auction?
Players who go unsold in the Marquee Internationals phase could go under the hammer once more during the Ranked or Nominated players phase.
Teams will be required to nominate up to 25 players, which can include the unsold players as well. These players will be added to the nominated players list.
If several teams nominate the same player, that player would become a ranked player and would be put up for bidding again. Even if they are not ranked, they may still come up later in the final nominated player round if teams still have empty spots in their squads.
