Tensions Rise Before India-Pakistan Match, PCB Questions ICC Over Broadcast Issue
While all of India was focused on the IND vs BAN Champions Trophy match in Dubai on Thursday, the PCB had other things to do. According to a report from ESPNcricinfo, the Pakistani board complained to the ICC because the name "Pakistan" was missing from the live broadcast of the match.
In the first match of CT 2025 between Pakistan and New Zealand, the name "Pakistan" was shown. However, it was not shown in the second match. The name was visible in Friday’s game between Afghanistan and South Africa, but it was missing from the India-Bangladesh match.
Champions Trophy Controversy Continues
At the same time, the PCB asked the ICC to explain the mistake and promised it would not happen again. The ICC said it was a technical error, but the PCB is not happy with this answer because the graphics are made ahead of time.
“The omission was due to a graphics-related technical issue, which will be rectified from tomorrow. It was not possible to change the logo during the match,” ICC spokesperson told Geo TV, as quoted by Hindustan Times.
The India vs Pakistan match will take place in Dubai on Sunday and will be the second game for both teams. Rohit Sharma’s team has already won the first game, while Rizwan’s team hasn't scored yet.
This isn't the first time India has annoyed the PCB. After all the plans were made for the Champions Trophy, India said they wouldn’t send their team to the neighbor because of safety issues. In the end, both teams agreed to play only in neutral places for the next three years.
