Team India Injury Update: Ishan Kishan Suffers Toe Injury After Bumrah Yorker in Practice

Team India was already worried about the fitness of some players, and now there is another injury concern. According to a tweet by Times of India’s Sahil Malhotra, Ishan Kishan has hurt his left toe while practicing in Delhi for the upcoming India vs Namibia match on Wednesday. He was hit by a Jasprit Bumrah yorker that left the southpaw in excruciating pain.

Right now, it is not clear whether Kishan will play the match or not, but this injury is definitely a setback. There is also doubt over Abhishek Sharma’s participation, as he recently returned from the hospital after being ill. Not to forget, Bumrah himself is returning from an illness. Washington Sundar is looking to regain full fitness for the tournament, after suffering a side strain exactly a month back.

So, all this could really disrupt the team combination. Ishan Kishan has been in sublime form too, ever since he has comeback into the Indian team, and is scoring big runs at a rapid pace.

He scored 76 and 103 against New Zealand in the last series and then added a half-century in the T20 World Cup practice match against South Africa. As far as his overall performance is concerned, he has played 37 matches and has scored 1031 runs overall at an average of 28. His strike-rate has been at 137.
