Team India Assistant Coach Confirms Jasprit Bumrah’s Availability for West Indies Tests

India’s fast-bowling star Jasprit Bumrah has told the BCCI that he is ready to play in the two-Test series against the West Indies at home next month, according to the Indian Express. The senior selection committee is expected to announce India’s squad on September 24 for the series, which starts on October 2 in Ahmedabad.

Bumrah’s workload was carefully managed during the England tour, where he played three Tests in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. After more than a year, he returned to T20Is for the ongoing T20 Asia Cup 2025. He was rested for the group match against Oman, but on September 23, assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate said he is unlikely to be rested in any of the remaining games as the team plans to manage his workload carefully.

“We have a Test match starting on Thursday. So, it is actually a good preparation, in terms of workload management. Knowing, if he plays all the games, he’ll bowl 25-26 overs, with the training and the preparation — which is a fairly good number before a Test. I’d say we are going to pick our best team for every game, and he obviously fits into that picture.” Ten Doeschate told the reporters.

Manav Suthar in Contention for India Test Debut After Five-Wicket Haul

India’s star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant will miss the series as he is still recovering from a fracture on his right foot, which he got during the fourth Test against England. Narayan Jagadeesan will continue as the backup wicketkeeper, while Dhruv Jurel is very likely to take Pant’s place in the playing eleven.

Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has reached the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for a fitness test. He hasn’t played any matches since the Test series against England as he focuses on regaining full fitness.

Young left-arm spinner Manav Suthar is strongly in the race for his first India Test call-up. Playing in the ongoing second unofficial Test for India A against Australia A, he took a five-wicket haul on Day 1. At just 23, he has already completed 100 first-class wickets, including five five-wicket hauls. Suthar is also a handy batter, scoring 734 runs in 37 innings at an average of 25.31, with five fifties and a personal best of 96 not out.
