T20 World Cup Pakistan vs England: Head-to-Head, Squads, & Weather Update
After their first Super Eights fixture against New Zealand was washed out due to persistent rain in Colombo, Pakistan are set to meet England at a new venue, Pallekele. This is Pakistan’s first game outside Colombo, and they are scheduled to face Sri Lanka here as well.
But they would not mind that, especially since the weather here is much kinder to cricket. As per the forecast, the sky is expected to remain clear of any rain threats, with a full game very much likely.
A washout or a loss will deal a massive blow to Pakistan’s qualification chances, effectively taking their fate in the tournament out of their own hands. The task would be difficult in the face of a buoyant England, who come off a fresh, resounding win against Sri Lanka at the very venue on Sunday.
Head-to-Head in T20 World Cup matches:
This will undoubtedly be a high-stakes game, but not more than when the two teams met previously. It was the 2022 T20 World Cup final, which Pakistan had reached, much to everyone’s astonishment. However, facing England in the final at the MCG, the team’s fate gave way.
In all, Pakistan have faced England thrice in the T20 World Cup and have endured defeat in all three games.
