Suryakumar Yadav wants to keep the handshake in the India vs Pakistan game a suspense

Suryakumar Yadav wants to keep the handshake in the India vs Pakistan game a suspenseIndian captain Suryakumar Yadav refused to answer when asked whether he or his team would shake hands with their arch-rivals Pakistan during the much-awaited clash in Colombo on February 15.

Game > any worries over handshakes

The Indian skipper twice deflected the question, saying he wished to keep it a surprise until the moment arrived.

“Wait for 24 hours, no,” the Indian captain said on the eve of the game. “Why are you speculating now? We have come here to play cricket, we’ll play good cricket. We will take the call on the handshake later. Dine well, sleep.”

When asked again, the top-order batter said the match was more important than the handshake, and that would be his focus.

“I will break the suspense tomorrow. I just said wait for 24 hours. We will play a good game and then after the game… what is important tomorrow? The game is important.”

“We will see that at the toss,” he said when asked again about the handshake.

Handshake row

The handshake row began during the 2025 Asia Cup when the Indian captain did not shake hands with his Pakistan counterpart, Salman Ali Agha. The move was repeated after the match ended, as Indian cricketers did not return to the ground for the customary post-match handshakes after chasing down the target.

During the tournament, the two teams met thrice, and on each occasion, there were no handshakes.
