Smriti Mandhana to Captain India in Three-Match ODI Series Against Ireland

Smriti Mandhana to Captain India in Three-Match ODI Series Against IrelandIn the first ODI series of 2025, the Indian Women's Cricket team is now playing against Ireland in India. Smriti Mandhana will lead the team. The BCCI hasn't made it official yet, but reports are saying that Harmanpreet Kaur and Renuka Singh Thakur are sitting out for the three matches. They're probably getting rested.

India has kept most of the players from their recent series against the West Indies. Delhi batter Pratika Rawal will continue to open with Smriti, while Harleen Deol will play 1 down in the batting order. Surprisingly, Shafali Verma, who scored an impressive 527 runs at an average of 75.29 in the Senior Women's One-Day Trophy, has once again been left out, and pace-bowling all-rounder Arundhati Reddy has also not been included in the ODI series against Ireland.

Without Harmanpreet, it will be interesting to see how India's middle order performs. The three ODIs will be held at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, with the first match scheduled for January 10.

In the spin department, Minnu Mani, Priya Mishra, and Tanuja Kanwer will join all-rounder Deepti Sharma. Uma Chetry will continue as the backup wicketkeeper for Richa Ghosh, as Yastika Bhatia is still recovering from her injury.
