Shubman Gill will be ready to play a few games in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 season like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The Indian Test and ODI skipper was included in Punjab’s 18-man squad for the VHT season, but he is not a part of the remaining two games after the first two games.
Shubman Gill Returns to Domestic Cricket, IND vs NZ ODI Prep Begins
As per Reports, Gill is set to play the remaining fixtures of the 5th and 6th group stages for Punjab. He will face Sikkim on January 3 and Goa on January 6 at Jaipur. Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) is expecting Shubman Gill to arrive at Punjab on or about December 29, when Punjab gets to face Uttarakhand.
"He will join the team in Jaipur around January 1 for those two matches. Of course, he is also interested in playing in the final league encounter against Mumbai, but that will depend on how the schedule is finalised by the BCCI regarding the camps prior to the home series against New Zealand," said a source.

Shubman Gill has skipped the ODI series between India and South Africa owing to the neck injury he picked in the Kolkata Test. Got injured again in the series against South Africa in the T20Is. He has resumed his training and was seen practicing at PCA Stadium in Mohali.
He will lead Team India against New Zealand. However, given the fact that he has frequently been in and out of the Indian side in different formats due to injuries, it is good to see that he will get to work on his timing in domestic cricket.
Considering he was not picked for India’s team in the T20 World Cup in 2026, it will be interesting to see whether he performs in the ODIs. The India squad for the ODI series in New Zealand is supposed to be unveiled by the BCCI in early January, on the 3rd or 4th.
